I am a wife, mother, and homemaker, and opening Scout & Molly's in Brookfield has been the biggest adventure of my life. Well, the biggest adventure since I gave birth to my first child, but that’s another story altogether… After years of living a peaceful suburban life, raising my children, and volunteering in church and community, my life was turned upside down when my husband informed me that his employer of almost 10 years no longer required his services. It was during his unplanned hiatus from the workforce that we both decided to take greater control of our future. We decided that I would become an entrepreneur and franchise business owner.
As I searched for my future business, it was important that I not only find something in which I could be successful, but something that I believed in. After being introduced to Scout & Molly’s and the founder, Lisa Kornstein, I knew I had found my match with their story and vision. As the owner of the only Scout & Molly’s in the state of Wisconsin, I can be myself. I am a “people person”. I get energy from and, I hope, give energy to other people. Every day I get the chance to welcome both friends and soon-to-be friends into my own little corner of Brookfield and hopefully help them feel better about themselves. That’s what really stood out to me about Lisa’s vision for Scout & Molly’s - the boutique experience can be downright intimidating for many women, but we’re different at Scout & Molly’s. I would be mortified if any woman was at all uncomfortable upon setting foot in my store. Our tagline is “shopping with us is like shopping in your best girlfriend’s closet”, and that is the environment I challenge my staff to create every day.
Being the owner of Scout & Molly’s also gives me the chance to give back and be a bigger part of the community in which I live. Every chance we get, we partner with charities or community organizations for events and donate back. It’s a way for me to do what I love and contribute to great causes at the same time. Make no mistake about it, we have lots of fun doing so. That’s a consistent theme to life at Scout & Molly’s. It’s all part of creating a warm, relaxed, and comfortable environment for our customers so they can’t help but to want to return. Every day is an adventure now, and I feel so grateful for the opportunity to share it with my staff and our great customers.
